Dermatita atopică (DA) este o afec?iune cutanată inflamatorie cronică pruriginoasă, frecvent diagnosticată la copii.
Atopia este definită de către OMS ca fiind o predispozi?ie la reactivitate imunologică anormală tip IgE , fa?ă de antigene din mediu, denumite alergene [1,2]. Răspunsul imunologic se caracterizează prin hiperproduc?ia de IgE specifice serice sau prin hiperreactivitate cutanată mediată de IgE. Bolile asociate cu atopia sunt: DA, rinita alergică, astmul alergic, alergia alimentară ?i au o prevalen?ă cumulată de 15-30% în popula?ia generală [1].
Este foarte important de a diferen?ia no?iunea de atopie de ceea de boli atopice ?i de a utiliza un singur termen, indiferent de fenotip ?i anume: dermatită atopică! [3].
