Prof. NIZP-PZH, D.V.M. Elżbieta Gołąb is a qualified specialist in medical parasitology with over 25 years of experience in the field of parasitic infections research. She is employed at the National Institute of Public Health – National Institute of Hygiene (NIPH-NIH) in Warsaw as the head of the Department of Medical Parasitology. She is also the head of the Diagnostic Laboratory for Parasitic Infections which provides diagnostic services to all health care institutions and individual patients using state-of-the-art, accredited methods of diagnostics. She studies host-parasite interactions, aiming at improving and implementing new methods of parasite infection diagnostics. She has been involved in several projects funded by national and international organizations. Additionally, she analyzes the epidemiological situation of several parasitic infections in Poland. Prof. Gołąb has published many papers in scientific journals and chapters in books. She is a member of the Parasitology Committee of the Polish Academy of Science and is the president of the Warsaw Branch of the Polish Parasitological Society.
