Dr Clive Grattan

Dr Clive Grattan MA, MD, FRCP is a Consultant Dermatologist with a special interest in Cutaneous Allergy. He has been a consultant in the National Health Service since 1990 with a wide experience of dermatology and allergy in the skin. He is a consultant at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London.

Dr Grattan was a scholar at King’s College, Cambridge, graduating with a double First in Natural Sciences. He qualified in Medicine from St Thomas’ Hospital London and worked medical posts in London and the West Country before specializing in Dermatology. He was a Consultant Dermatologist in Norwich for 25 years, for 10 of which he was also lead clinician for the tertiary Urticaria clinic at St John’s Institute of Dermatology. He moved to London whole time in 2016 to specialize in urticaria, mastocytosis and general dermatology but retains a family home and a weekend private practice in Norfolk.

Dr Grattan has published many research articles, reviews, guidelines and textbook chapters on urticaria and related subjects and lectures internationally on mast cell disorders. He is an active member of British and European Societies of Dermatology and Allergy. He is currently Co-editor in Chief of Clinical and Translational Allergy, the open access journal of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He is a past editor of Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, immediate past President of the St John’s Dermatological Society and a past president of the Dermatology section of the Royal Society of Medicine.
