Submission Checklist

Our Dermatology Online

Before submitting a manuscript to Our Dermatology Online, authors should use the following checklist to ensure that the submission is complete and complies with the journal’s requirements.

Incomplete submissions may be returned to the corresponding author for correction before editorial assessment.


1. Manuscript

Before submission, confirm that:

  • The manuscript is appropriate for the journal’s Aims and Scope.
  • The correct Article Type has been selected.
  • The manuscript has been prepared according to the Manuscript Preparation requirements.
  • The manuscript has been carefully checked for English language, spelling, terminology, and formatting.
  • The title accurately reflects the content of the manuscript.
  • The abstract is consistent with the main text.
  • Appropriate keywords have been provided.
  • All tables and figures are cited in the manuscript.
  • References have been checked for accuracy and relevance.
  • The manuscript does not contain unnecessary identifying information.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

Because Our Dermatology Online uses a double-blind peer-review process, authors should confirm that:

  • A separate Title Page containing author information has been prepared.
  • The blinded manuscript does not unnecessarily identify the authors.
  • Author names and affiliations have been removed from the blinded manuscript.
  • Acknowledgements that could identify the authors have been removed from the blinded version.
  • References to the authors’ institution have been handled appropriately where necessary.

The editorial office may request changes if the manuscript inadvertently compromises reviewer anonymity.


3. Authorship

Before submission, confirm that:

  • All listed authors meet the journal’s authorship requirements.
  • All authors have approved the final manuscript.
  • All authors agree to its submission to Our Dermatology Online.
  • The order of authors has been agreed upon.
  • The corresponding author has been identified.
  • Current institutional affiliations are provided.
  • ORCID iDs have been provided where available.

4. Originality

Authors should confirm that:

  • The manuscript is original.
  • The manuscript has not been simultaneously submitted to another journal.
  • The manuscript has not been previously published in substantially the same form.
  • Relevant previous publications have been disclosed.
  • Potentially overlapping manuscripts or publications have been identified to the editorial office.

5. Plagiarism and Similarity

Before submission:

  • Sources have been appropriately cited.
  • Direct quotations have been appropriately identified.
  • Material taken from other sources has been appropriately acknowledged.
  • Previously published material has been disclosed where relevant.
  • The authors understand that the manuscript may be screened using Plagramme.

The journal does not use a single similarity-percentage threshold as an automatic basis for acceptance or rejection.


6. Artificial Intelligence

Authors should confirm that:

  • AI tools have not been listed as authors.
  • The authors have verified AI-assisted content for accuracy.
  • AI-generated references and citations have been independently checked.
  • AI has not been used to fabricate data, results, references, images, or scientific findings.
  • Any AI use requiring disclosure has been disclosed in accordance with the journal’s AI Policy.

7. Research Ethics

Where applicable:

  • Ethical approval has been obtained.
  • The ethics committee or institutional review board is identified.
  • The relevant approval/reference number is provided.
  • Informed consent requirements have been fulfilled.
  • Human research complies with applicable ethical requirements.
  • Animal research complies with applicable ethical requirements.

If formal ethical approval was not required, the manuscript should provide an appropriate explanation where relevant.


8. Patient Consent

For Case Reports, Case Series, clinical photographs, and other potentially identifiable patient information:

  • Patient confidentiality has been protected.
  • Identifying information has been removed where possible.
  • Appropriate consent for publication has been obtained where required.
  • The manuscript complies with the Patient Consent and Case Reports policy.
  • Photographs do not contain unnecessary identifying information.

The journal may request confirmation of patient consent.


9. Figures and Tables

Confirm that:

  • All figures are numbered correctly.
  • All figures are cited in the text.
  • All figures have appropriate legends.
  • Figures are of sufficient quality for publication.
  • Patient-identifying information has been removed where appropriate.
  • Tables are numbered correctly.
  • All tables are cited in the text.
  • Tables have appropriate titles.
  • Figures and tables do not unnecessarily duplicate the same information.
  • Necessary permissions have been obtained for third-party material.

10. References

Before submission:

  • References have been checked for accuracy.
  • References are relevant to the manuscript.
  • In-text citations correspond to the reference list.
  • Publication details have been checked.
  • References have not been fabricated or generated without verification.
  • Excessive or inappropriate self-citation has been avoided.

11. Conflicts of Interest

Confirm that:

  • All relevant conflicts of interest have been disclosed.

If there are no relevant conflicts, an appropriate declaration should be included.

Example:

Conflict of Interest: The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest.


12. Funding

Confirm that:

  • All relevant funding sources have been disclosed.
  • The role of the funder has been stated where applicable.
  • A statement concerning external funding has been provided where appropriate.

13. Acknowledgements

Where applicable:

  • Individuals who contributed to the work but do not qualify for authorship have been acknowledged appropriately.
  • Permission has been obtained where appropriate.
  • The blinded manuscript does not contain acknowledgements that unnecessarily reveal author identity.

14. Copyright and Third-Party Material

Before submission:

  • Authors have reviewed the journal’s Copyright and Licensing policy.
  • Necessary permissions for third-party material have been obtained.
  • Sources of reproduced material have been appropriately acknowledged.

15. Submission Email

The manuscript should be submitted by email to:

The corresponding author should ensure that the email contains sufficient information to identify the submission.

The subject line should preferably include:

Manuscript Submission – [Article Type] – [Short Manuscript Title]

Example:

Manuscript Submission – Case Report – A Rare Dermatological Presentation


16. Files to Attach

Depending on the article type, the submission email should contain the relevant files, including where applicable:

  • Title Page
  • Blinded Manuscript
  • Figures
  • Tables
  • Supplementary Material
  • Ethical approval information
  • Patient consent documentation where applicable
  • Other documents requested by the editorial office

Authors should avoid sending unnecessary duplicate versions of the same file.


17. Final Author Confirmation

Before clicking Send, the corresponding author should confirm:

I confirm that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript and agree with its submission to Our Dermatology Online. I confirm that the manuscript is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal and that all relevant ethical, authorship, conflict-of-interest, funding, patient-consent, originality, and AI-related requirements have been addressed.
