Aims and Scope
Aim
Our Dermatology Online is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the publication and dissemination of scientifically sound and clinically relevant knowledge in dermatology and related fields.
The journal aims to provide an international forum for researchers, clinicians, educators, and other healthcare professionals to share original scientific findings, clinically relevant observations, and advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and understanding of diseases affecting the skin, hair, nails, and related structures.
The journal contributions that provide a meaningful scientific, clinical, diagnostic, therapeutic, epidemiological, or educational contribution to dermatology.
Scope
Our Dermatology Online considers manuscripts covering a broad range of dermatological disciplines and topics, including, but not limited to:
- general and clinical dermatology;
- inflammatory and autoimmune skin diseases;
- allergic and immunological disorders;
- dermatologic oncology;
- pediatric dermatology;
- geriatric dermatology;
- dermatopathology;
- dermoscopy and other dermatological diagnostic imaging methods;
- dermatologic surgery;
- cosmetic and aesthetic dermatology;
- infectious diseases of the skin;
- tropical dermatology;
- fungal and parasitic skin diseases;
- sexually transmitted infections relevant to dermatology;
- genodermatoses and inherited skin disorders;
- rare dermatological diseases;
- pharmacology and therapeutics in dermatology;
- photodermatology;
- occupational dermatology;
- epidemiology and public health aspects of skin diseases;
- wound healing and disorders of the skin barrier;
- diagnostic and therapeutic innovations relevant to dermatology.
The journal also considers interdisciplinary research where the primary scientific or clinical relevance is related to dermatology.
Types of Manuscripts
Depending on scientific merit and relevance to the journal’s scope, Our Dermatology Online considers:
- Original Articles;
- Brief Reports and other concise scientific contributions
- Review Articles;

- Clinical Images; Histopathological Images;
- Case Letters;
- Others: miniReview Article; Narrative Review; Practical issues; Opinion Articles
The availability of particular article types may depend on the current editorial policy and specific calls for submissions.
Criteria for Scope and Scientific Relevance
Submitted manuscripts should:
- fall within the scientific scope of the journal;
- provide a meaningful contribution to dermatology or a closely related field;
- present sufficient scientific, clinical, or methodological information to support the conclusions;
- comply with applicable research ethics and publication ethics requirements;
- meet the journal’s requirements for originality and responsible scholarly communication.
A manuscript may be declined without external peer review if it falls outside the journal’s scope, does not meet the journal’s basic editorial requirements, or does not provide a sufficiently relevant scientific or clinical contribution.
Clinical Case Reports and Images
The journal welcomes well-documented case reports, case series, and clinical images when they provide an important diagnostic, therapeutic, educational, or otherwise relevant contribution to dermatology.
Case reports should describe cases of sufficient clinical or scientific interest and should provide appropriate diagnostic reasoning and discussion of the relevance of the findings.
Authors must comply with the journal’s requirements concerning patient privacy, anonymisation, and informed consent for publication.
Interdisciplinary Submissions
The journal welcomes interdisciplinary submissions when dermatology represents a substantial component of the scientific or clinical content.
Research primarily unrelated to dermatology or without a clear relevance to the journal’s readership may be considered outside the scope of the journal.
Editorial Scope Decisions
The Editor-in-Chief or a designated editor determines whether a manuscript falls within the journal’s scope.
An editorial decision that a manuscript is outside the journal’s scope is separate from the scientific assessment performed during external peer review.
Authors are encouraged to review the journal’s Instructions for Authors and Peer Review Process before submitting a manuscript.
