Work history:
February 2007 – present time: Executive Chairman, Tanzania AIDS Commission (TACAIDS); coordinating all national HIV and AIDS response initiatives in Tanzania
January 2006 – January 2007: United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Representative Uganda
January – December 2005: Private international health consultant – mainly in Reproductive Health inclusive of Family Planning
June 2000 – January 2005: Regional Advisor Reproductive Health, UNFPA Country Support Team – covering
East, Central and West Africa. Participated in development of RH strategies and action plans for a number of African Countries
June 1995 – December 1999: Chief Technical Advisor in Reproductive Health, Ministry of Health, Ethiopia. Facilitated expansion of RH services, development of tools and guidelines and development of a RH monitoring system.
1985-1993: Director, Preventive Health Services, Ministry of Health, Tanzania. Initiated the Safe Motherhood Program and supervised 8 National Programs
1993-1995: Director and Manager, National Family Planning Program, Ministry of Health, Tanzania. Initiated the National Family Planning Program including CBD Program in Tanzania which doubled the CPR in 3 years
